HIGHLIGHTS

Radovan`s portal - The Croatian architect Master sculptor Radovan worked on the cathedral's gateway early in its construction. Radovan's masterwork is the greatest and the most important monument of medieval sculpture, not only in Croatia but also in all Balkans. Finished and signed in 1240, it is a monumental and perhaps unique work of this great Croatian artist, of whom the inscription on the base of the lunette says: "the best of all in this artisanship".

Chapel of St John of Trogir - A must see within the cathedral of St. Lawrence is the Chapel of St John considered the most beautiful Renaissance monument in Dalmatia. The chapel is in the form of a mausoleum with a marble sarcophagus of Blessed John of Trogir in the middle of chapel. The decorations within the chapel were created by Nikola Firentinac, Donatello's pupil. Andrija Alesi and Ivan Duknovic assisted him.

Camerlengo castle – The castle arises in the 15th century around the old polygonal fortress (14th century) as a key place of the town defence, at the entrance to the town harbour. Today Kamerlengo is a stage for the numerous cultural-artistic manifestation.

Benedictine monostery of St Nicholas – The female Benedictine monastery, founded in 1064 still cherishes the monastic life. St. Nicholas has a rich collection of works of art among which the most valuable is the Greek relief with the figure of Kairos divinity.

Church of St Sebastian and logga – Church of St. Sebastian with tower of a town clock gathers architectural and statuary works of art of Nikola Firentinac. The town loggia, to which is abuts, was the place of gathering, but above all it was a courthouse. Relief of Firentinac with allegory of Justice reminds us of this fact. On the south wall the relief of Petar Berislavić of Trogir, Croatian ban, fighter against the Turks, is the work of art of Ivan Meštrović.
